Behind The Design: Bodega x Clarks Patchwork Wallabee 3.0 "Northeast Corridor"

When it comes to classic gear, looking the part simply isn't good enough. That's because ingrained in the tradition of now archetypal standards like the essential button-down shirt, or in this case, perfect casual shoe, is their ability to weather the storm. You know - hang tough over time and look better for it.

You aren't going to get a pat on the back after that first scuff mark. The pride/respect comes with years of ownership. Because anything can capture an aesthetic temporarily. It's what endures over time that sticks in your mind, and ultimately, in your rotation.

And when it comes to hard-wearing classics, we New Englanders are pretty spoiled. From our textile and mill-centric roots to the rich history of academia - and labor, we've been lucky to compile an eclectic mix of memorable textiles over the decades, that which endure not just as cultural touch points but as time-tested garments.

In thinking of our diverse material-based history and fascination with timeless designs, it's not hard to see how our third Clark Wallabee collaboration was born.

Cobbling together familial fabrics ingrained in the Northeast corridor like tweed and houndstooth found on university sports coats, washed canvas direct from the work clothing that built up the area, and weathered leather, essential in so many facets of life from footwear to furniture, do we need any other excuse to craft a wearable patchwork quilt celebrating the region we call home?

Following up a warm, saturated sequel, when it came to the color story of round 3, we channeled those cloudy, windy days when the waves are crashing along the wall. Washed-out greens and greys supported by richer wool tones to help tie it all together.

A collection of photographs and a maroon scarf on a wall.

Closed out with boat shoe lacing along the collar as a nautical nod, our Wallabee might not be your first choice on the sloop but they'll definitely put some wind in your sail.
